The city was founded under Ivan Crnojevic, later it experienced the loss of the country’s independence and revived again under the Negos dynasty. Why they decided to move the capital? Cetinje was built under military conditions, when it was necessary to make the center the most difficult to reach. In peacetime, such a capital became inconvenient.

CETINJE MONASTERY

Cetinje monastery is one of the most important shrines of Montenegro. The Church is dedicated to the Nativity of the blessed virgin Mary. Relics are kept here: the right hand of John the Baptist, the remains of St. Peter of Cetinje, a piece of the cross of the Lord. Going on a tour of Cetinje, you can see all the relics. PIVA MONASTERY

Piva monastery in Montenegro was built in difficult times for the country, when the state lost its independence and was under the rule of the Ottomans. That is why the object looks more like a house. The fact that it is a cult object, reminds only symbolism. All the most interesting is inside the monastery.

Today the monastery of Piva is not where it was originally built. When it was decided to create the Piva reservoir, it became clear that the territory would flood. And the construction began to gradually move. It was transferred very carefully – it was necessary to preserve the ancient frescoes and other artifacts. OSTROG MONASTERY

Ostrog monastery in Montenegro is a sanctuary of Balkan scale, pilgrims come here from all over Europe. The object was built by St. Basil of Ostrog – a prominent figure, the Sain was well known in the Balkan countries.
